About
Nienke Keizer, 22 years old, is regarded by experts as a major talent in the art world. She studies Classical Techniques at the Vrije Academie in Nunspeet. During her study, she engages with subjects such as perspective, proportion theory, composition, use of color, and art history. Her training is characterized by experimentation and an ongoing search for artistic development and inner peace. It is a journey toward perfection, in which her still lifes, animals, landscapes, and portraits closely approach reality and appear to come alive. For each painting, the preliminary research involves an in-depth and challenging search for a carefully considered composition of objects and elements. Composition is seen as an interplay in which objects merge into a cohesive whole within the right environment. The final work is intended to capture the viewer’s attention and hold it over time.
Nienke is described as a classical painter of fine arts. Her work is predominantly symbolic and realistic, sometimes enriched with a philosophical-surrealist undertone. Her paintings are characterized by a soft style, in which stillness and meaning converge, as well as by the playful yet precise way in which she combines or contrasts light with a frequently dark background. Strong contrast is an essential element in her work, guiding perception. Nature and animals often take center stage in her paintings, though she also explores landscapes, portraits, and still lifes.
Recently, she held her first successful exhibitions at the KEKhuis in Epe and the Kulturhus in Epe, clearly demonstrating the development she has made in her young painting career. Several exhibitions are planned for 2026 in Heerde, Emst, Deventer, and Twello.
Biography
Nienke Keizer was born and raised in Epe, where she currently lives. She has been painting since the age of nineteen. Her education began with a local painter and art restorer after she received a painting course as a gift. Following this training, Nienke began her studies at the Vrije Academie.
The creative process and witnessing the emergence of a refined image on canvas provide her with relaxation, calm, appreciation, and fulfillment. Realistic painting appeals to her most, particularly the challenge of developing techniques and specializing in oil painting. At present, Nienke’s artworks are mainly appreciated on a regional and national level and are largely held in private collections, though the international art market is also among her ambitions.
Nienke also works on commission, allowing clients to contribute personal objects if desired. Recently, she has expanded her practice to include acrylic painting and mural art.
